Today I was challenged about a situation that arose this past weekend. It was something that I took personal, or as a personal attack by someone who really doesn't know me. Talk about allowing my ego to get in the way. I worked through it, but later as I was working through and processing it, I realized that to take something personal means that you allow either the actions or words of someone else to be taken to your heart. When in fact the actions, words or attitudes of other's says more about them than us. however our reactions say more about us than them.
I felt the Spirit telling me, not to allow others such easy access to my heart. This is what the ego does. The ego desires to run our lives through our taking to heart the actions and words of others. When what I am learning to do, is step back and allow myself to see the truth of the situation. This person who "seems" to be attacking me is actually hurting, lonely or needing love. As Marianne Williamson put it " anything not of love is a call for help."
It is not always easy to see from that perspective, especially when we are living from ego, instead from our heart or spirit.
