Forgiveness- acceptance and surrendering it all to God

Recently I was shocked and amazed at some opinions expressed by people who I considered close friends. Not only was I surprised by their opinions, but more at their lack of sensitivity to how this would make me feel. I seriously considered deleting my social media that was the vehicle that delivered this shock and awe to me. Now I am a big boy and have no problem with people disagreeing with me, but it was the who and the how that hit me hard.

This has been an ongoing struggle for me, of several days. The hurt was heavy, but then I came to the place where I had to face this head on and accept it for what it is. I have no power to change other people, no matter how much it breaks my heart to know how badly this world needs a change and shift in how we see and treat one another. But I do have the power to change myself and remove the power of how the thoughts and opinions of others affect me. This power is called forgiveness. Forgiveness is not about excusing someone's bad behavior, it is simply releasing it and it's effect to God and removing it's power from your life.

Lord,

I release all of it and surrender those who I felt hurt me to God. I trust God to change their hearts and transform their minds. May theLight of Truth, help us all to see clearly our errors and may we embrace love for one another. May we understand and see the power of our words to hurt and destroy and rather use them to heal.

Amen
