What's in it for you?

Today I reading a past article on the site soul seeds, a site that I highly recommend (www.soulseeds.com). Ian was sharing about intentions and how they can be ego driven.

I reflected that many times our prayers or intentions, beliefs and practices, are ego driven. If I do this, I (ego) will get this. God, I need or want this. If I don't do this, this will happen to Me.

When in fact, true spirituality understands that we are part of each-other, we are connected with God. Our faith, spiritual practices are not only for ourselves but should serve the greater good. (each-other, God and ourself).

If our life is lived only for the self, then we have missed our purpose, and are not enjoying abundant life the way God intended.

My life, my choices, my habits, my thoughts do effect more than myself. They either serve a greater purpose, or the ego purpose. The ego purpose, is to (Edge God Out) to live a separated, self centered existence. The greater purpose is to rise above the challenges in ones life and help others do the same.
