" For my Peace and the Peace of the world, I choose Love" A Course In Miracles
Romans 12:2 speaks of not being conformed by the those around you, but to be transformed, changed by renewed thinking. (My paraphrase)
We create our life by the choices we make and the the thoughts we think, sets the direction and course of our life. Changing our life is as simple or as difficult as changing our minds. The word repentance, simply means a change in direction or thinking.
Success and abundant living begin by first making up our mind, that we want and choose something better. The process of success comes from continual changing of negative thought patterns that have become a program and soundtrack playing in our minds for a long time.
The ego (that false self or identity of our mind that life's negative experiences has formed) has dominated our thinking patterns and programmed our minds with fear, and false perceptions. This kind of thinking runs on auto-pilot and many times is simply caught in the act, because it runs without our conscious permission.
The way to overcome the ego and transform our lives and thinking is simply to choose Love. We first must realize we are not the thoughts we think. We are not the ego. We are at the very center, spiritual and can step back and observe the ego at work. More importantly, we can override the ego's fear and negativity by choosing Love.
When negative thoughts come in about our life or the life around us, we can simply embrace the Truth, that God loves us and wants something better for us. This is choosing the reality of Love over the reality over the circumstances in our life and world. I am not talking about denial, I am talking about rising above. For example, when I take an airplane somewhere, I am not denying the existence of gravity, I am simply superseding it it with the higher law of lift. So I do not deny the fear, lack or circumstances that seem to be in my life, I am simply superseding the fear with a higher law of Love.
When dealing with a person, who appears to be attacking you, you can choose to react from ego or attack and take it personally, or you can choose a higher law of Love. You can see them as they really are, someone who is lashing out from their fear and wounded ness. You can choose to forgive (release them from your ego) and Love them for who they really are (God's child) even-though they may not recognize it about themselves yet. This forgiveness releases Love and the Holy Spirit to transform their life to who they truly are.
Imagine what would happen if we treated each other based on Love and this Truth. Mother Theresa said that when she saw the poor people she saw Christ in them When she served the poor, she saw herself serving Christ. This kind of thinking transform a lot of lives she touched. Love has that kind of power, the power to transform.
It all begins with a choice!
Peace!
