God is more than our Father

I have always loved to think of God as my Father, but that is in part due to the fact, of my own poor relationship with my dad. In recent years, I have become inclusive in my definition of God, as I have understood that for many the idea of a father is not a good one. Although, I was able to mentally wrap my mind around God as a heavenly parent, I still preferred and would laps back into the familiar pronoun of Him, His and ultimately Father. I also had a difficult time at first with referring to God as creator or anyway that we changed the words in a song, scripture or prayer to make it more inclusive. I was not judgmental just uncomfortable.

However, I now understand God in a different way that has changed my difficulty with my pronouns. God is more than my father, mother or heavenly parent. Although God is all of these, god is also so much more. God is a lover, a friend that sticks closer than a brother. God is my all in all. God is all I need, everything I need. God became to me a father, when I needed one. God meets us where we are and becomes everything we need, if we will only receive.

God is my righteousness, my hope, my Source, my health, my All in All.

God doesn't just become what we need, God is already everything we will ever need. God Is!

The Source of all has made a way for us to live in the Source of all. God desires to live within us, to transform us to make us into who we were born to be. This is not something we can do of ourselves, this is something already done for and in us. This is the Gospel, the Good News, that God is Love, and Loves all, and requires nothing of us but to open our hearts to the most awesome relationship we could ever imagine.

Peace!
