Alone?

Connection to others is what enriches our lives. A study conducted in the 90s determined that happiness does not come from success, youth, good looks and all the things that the world places value on. However, what it did find, that the happiest people are those who have meaningful relationships. We human being are happy when we are giving and receiving love. That is because we are created for relationship, with God and with others.

In this age of Internet, mobile phones, we have more devices and ways to connect and still we are a very disconnected society. People are still battle with loneliness. Single people are in greater numbers than ever before in our countries history. But as a single man, I have found doesn't mean I am alone or living solo. Living a life from Heart or Spirit, means I am connected with God, myself and others.

First, let's look at living connected with God. I am not talking about religion or any institution. Not that you can't be a part of those and be connected to God, but also, you can not be a part of organized religion or any particular institution and still live a spiritual connected life. In truth, we come from God.

We are at our very core spirits, our essence our true identity is much more than body or mind. God has been reaching out to us, to reconnect with him constantly, as a parent looking for a lost child. These are the pictures that Christ gave in his teachings.This is what him so unique. He revealed God as a loving parent. Forget what religion has done to the idea of God, both prior to Christ and post Christ.

God is Love. God is not an angry deity, looking for power and praise to appease his ego or he will have a mega tantrum resulting in everyone burning in eternal damnation. This is what religions who are ran by ego driven men who hunger for power and control use to manipulate people for their own agendas and gain want.

Teach us God, who you really are, form in us the right idea and help us to turn away from the lies we were taught about you.

Christ came to teach us a new way of seeing and relating to God. Then he taught us that the Spirit of God would live with us and teach us everyday. This Holy Spirit would comfort, teach, and help us live Life the way it was meant to. We can live in constant connection with God, we can stay in a constant conversation with God, through the Holy Spirit. This is your birthright, you inheritance as a child of God. You do not need a special language, formula or religious ritual to access God. In fact God is waiting on you now. All you need to do, is speak from the heart.

Have you ever been ignored? It is one of the worse feelings. However we, ignore God, daily when we do not recognize that the presence of God is with us, we never speak to him. ( or her if you prefer, God is not male nor female, but I have a hard time writing about God with a pronoun).

I invite you to try this out now. Start a conversation with God. Live your life with the recognition that you are not alone. Set religious ideas aside and talk to God like you would a trusted friend. Because a more trustworthy friend you will not find. You life will take on a new joy, and peace. You will begin to see the miracles that have been there all along, but now, in His presence you will be more aware of them.

You may ask, "but doesn't God want to change me?" Well in truth, yes, but not into a person you are not, but into the person you are meant to be. A life of fulfillment. Jesus said, I have come that you might have Life, and that your Life might be full! Now that is success!

Remember, you are never alone! Not in the sense that religion would say, " God is watching you,waiting to punish your every mistake." but in the sense, God is with you, to empower you, teach you and make All things work for your Good!
